PTE or Pearson Test Of English is a computer-based English exam. The test is important for the students who want to study abroad or want to immigrate to a major English-speaking country. They take the Academic test to prove their English proficiency. The test is taken by schools and institutions around the world.
The Pearson Test of English is a three-hour-long exam that is purely focused on day-to-day English skills rather than the high-level English proficiency among test takers. It aims to understand the abilities of students in daily life English conversation and vocabulary. It is a multi-level grading system that checks the competencies of students in the English language.
The Pearson Test of English is not the same as the other English proficiency tests. There are many differences between PTE and other English exams. The first difference is the scoring pattern and the results. As mentioned, PTE is a computer-based exam, the results are quickly out because of the method in which the test is conducted. At most the declaration of results takes about 2 to 4 days. This makes the test perfectly suited for the students who are in a rush.
PTE Eligibility:
Pearson PLC Group is the conducting body of the Pearson Test of English Academic Exam. There are no specific criteria that have been put up for the Academic exam till now. The conducting body has not set up any qualification criteria for the candidates who want to take the Academic exam. There are also no restrictions on the numbers till which the exam can be taken. A student can take the exam as many times as they want. The only criterion is that the exam should be taken at least after five days of the previous exam.
PTE Academic Test Arrangements:
Pearson Test of English is committed to providing everyone a favourable platform where anyone can take the test. Pearson VUE makes the environment favourable by arranging the test location for the students with disabilities as well. The possible arrangements made by them are a separate testing room, extra time for the test, a reader, or a recorder. Any of these arrangements can be demanded by the students, as relevant to their cases. Candidates who need these arrangements have to specify their needs and how their disability is stopping them from performing their best in the Academic tests under standard conditions. Candidates need to apply for the arrangements a week before the exam along with submitting the documentary proof of their disability.
PTE Academic Exam Pattern:
The Pearson Test of English has four sections in the examination. The four sections are Reading, Writing, Speaking, and Listening. The candidates are marked in all four sections and their overall marks are considered to be the PTE score. As the exam tests the four components reading, writing, spoken, and listening skills of candidates, it is important to score well in all four sections.
By scoring well, the students can assure the college committee and/or the visa department that they are acceptably capable of understanding and communicating in the global language. For this, the test takers can take the help of online PTE coaching classes or may find the best PTE online coaching. These classes will help them to be ready for the Academic exam.
PTE also has the same pattern as the other English proficiency exam. The time for the speaking and writing section ranges between 77 minutes and 90 minutes. In between this time limit, the candidates have to answer all the six subsections that test their communication skills of spoken and written language. The next section is the reading section which will take at least 32 minutes and at most 41 minutes, depending on the candidate’s skills. It is further divided into 5 subsections that test the ability of candidates for the written instructions. The last section is the listening test that tests the ability to understand spoken English and takes 45 minutes to 57 minutes.
