There are certainly things which we can do to stop it from being spread and help our children be safe and healthy.

In a stressful situation like a global pandemic, we as parents need to guide and train our kids to combat the situation most effectively. The rapid spread of the virus does sound scary, but we don’t really need not to panic. To prevent the spread of COVID-19 in our community parents need to take best care of their children. Experts believe that CoronaVirus spreads similarly to the flu through close person-to-person contact, including exposure to sneezing and coughing. Hence, one can try to stay healthy during this outbreak by following the same practical advice we use for cold and flu season but ensuring we follow it through.

We need to train our kids about these basic hygiene routines:

  • Make sure that your child washes hands often with soap and water or uses an alcohol-based hand sanitizer often.
  • Make it a point to clean and disinfect frequently touched surfaces.
  • Avoid close contact with people who are sick and absolutely avoid social gathering.
  • Stay home.
  • Avoid to touch your eyes, mouth and nose with unwashed hands.

As a parent we need to help kids cope with fear and not to worry with the amount of information flowing all around us. Our busy structured life had deprived us of this opportunity, so have lots of fun with your kids, parents and spouse and get reconnected. It is true that you are trying your best to protect and shield your children and at the same time battling with your own fear and anxiety. Tough indeed!
